Poll Kamala Harris replaces Biden in the presidential race. Will you vote for her? (116 votes)

Kamala Harris 62%
Donald Trump 35%
Another candidate 3%

Biden has officially exited the presidential race and will be replaced by Kamala Harris by the democratic party. What your thought on this change? Will it improve the Democratic Party's chances now on the next US presidential election?

This was a good decision, I don't care what people say.

I think people's minds for the most part were already made up, and Biden stepping down and Harris stepping up is as likely to swing people to the Democrats as it is to alienate.

Cynic's view: Biden is old, that loses votes; Harris is female person-of-color, that loses votes

Optimistic view: Biden and the Dems did the right thing; Harris will gain younger votes, female votes.

The question is, will this swing the "Never Biden" group (if they exist)--that is, a group that want to vote Democrat but can't support Biden--to the Democrats' favor?

And will it swing enough of the shockingly-large group of white female voters that were on the fence but leaning towards Trump?

I like Harris. She can be a little goofy and awkward but honestly I find that endearing and not half as alienating as Trump's vitriol and Biden's recent sense of entitlement and indignation.

More importantly, Harris is 100% qualified for the job, perhaps more so than Biden, and DEFINITELY more so than Trump.

Vote Harris!

No, doesn't increase democrat party chances.

We also don't know for sure yet if Kamala is actually the presidential candidate or not, DNC could push for open convention

Yeah. Good god, the hot air coming out of @kuu2 alone. Sounding really scared. Major sign of weakness lol.

ROFL the whole "heels up" thing is new to me, that's cute. It's like they think she'd be the first politician to use sex to get somewhere. I guess since it's a woman doing it, that's somehow bad, whereas a guy does it, that's fine 😋

If anything is based on the job she has done as VP, no, it won't help.

The democrats are in a state of chaos right now.

I can totally see Trump burying himself going after Kamala Harris. I just don’t think he can help himself. His character will shine through. 😅

MAGAts are already shaking and vomiting from fear of a candidate who inspires energy and voter turnout, knowing that the right loses on policy and popularity. Whether it turns out to be Kamala or someone else, they lost the one thing that they could run on which is that their candidate is the most loud and lucid.

I'm in a bit of a mix on this one. I wasn't gonna vote this year but hearing Biden stepping down opens up opportunity. Kamala's ratings are lower than Biden and Kamala doesn't have that spotlight power as Mitchell Obama has and Mitchell has way more going for than Kamala and that's very bad when the First Lady has more going for than the VP. Kamala coming in this late is very bad timing for her as she doesn't have enough time gaining trust. As of now, Kamala needs to get those results and prove us wrong she can do it.

So again, I'm standing-by how this all plays out till November 2024.

I will vote for Kamala if she is in fact nominated, but still think Trump is most likely to win. We'll see.

If she does win though, what percentage of Americans will learn how to correctly pronounce her name, and how many different pronunciations will Trump use in a single debate?

Trump not only turns off Independents but he's lost some Republicans. If Americans care about their country, they'll get out and vote. If that happens, Trump loses.

Hold up, just am honest question here. Isn't it odd here that the Dems just plug in a nominee who didn't even earn it through the vote? Ignoring their own voters ? If Biden isn't fit for another term, how can he finish this one? Why not invoke the 25th? Not exactly a Biden fan, but this is looking suspicious IMO.

In the US one is not forced to run for president. He said he's not seeking re-election. That doesn't mean he feels he can't do the job for the rest of his term. Too much distraction with the money people behind the media making him out to be incompetent. Perhaps he doesn't feel he has a chance to win?

Remember he wanted to tax the wealthy, Trump to lower their taxes again. Guess which way money wants to go?

Your responses are dumbfuckery in action. Primaries are non-official and parties are private entities. The people who voted for him are voting for his delegates who are now free to release their votes to whom they please. Funny how you guys conveniently hate the representative part of democracy all of a sudden.

What's more she was already on the ticket they voted for.

And if they still feel disenfranchised despite all that, they can make their voices heard in the official vote in November.

As for finishing his term Biden simply doesn't have the energy to recover a lagging campaign and also be president. Doesn't mean he isn't more than capable chilling at the white house for big decision making for the remaining 6 months. Calls to resign are nonsense and probably come from trepidation over what a lame duck might do with new official immunity. Invoking the 25th is laughable because Biden can immediately counter it by saying "um wtf guys im not in a coma."

I'm not American, so I am not allowed to vote. But if I was I would vote for Harris, main reason is climate change. My concious simply does not allow me to vote for a candidate/party that does not believe in climate change and plan to do something about it.

I find trump to be alienating, which might play well to his base, but not really good for the country as a whole. He said he would drain the swamp in the first election, which he didn't do. He made a lot of promises, which he broke and worst of all was increasing the debt.

Personally, I don't think Kamala Harris will do much about the debt problem either, but she's not as divisive, shes more educated than trump and also younger. I really don't like seeing old men run for president...even Biden who clung to power so long, and now Trump who is almost 78 or something, trying to regain power.

Age is just a number, this is true...but I will respect that if your bmi is in the low 20s, you're very fit and athletic, and can still keep up mentally. There are "super seniors" that fit into this category, and i'd say they are qualified 100%. But most people are slobs, don't take care of their physical health, and on many different meds past a certain age. Trump is also raving at this point.

I personally think there should be an athletic fitness test. You qualify if you're able to run a marathon, and other physical tests, no medications, and very healthy lifestyle void of junk and trash foods.

People should be far more demanding of who they vote for as their president. If a person can barely take care of themselves and their health or have respect for their own bodies...how the heck will they take care of their country.

few things.

generally speaking if you voted for biden in a primary, you were voting for harris as well as she was the vp pick.

regarding the vote, i don't believe there is actually a LEGAL obligation for the party to nominate who the primary voters voted for. the votes are intraparty and not governed by the federal system of regulations. i suppose if party members want to make a big stink about their vote going to someone who is no longer in the running, they're free to do so. the party would have to work that out amongst themselves.

the whole "not fit for 4 years vs. fit for 6 months argument is pretty stupid imo" do these people have no agency of their own to determine how they want to spend the next 4 years of their life? you can just not WANT to do it. that IS allowed.

Hilarious to see how fast some people suddenly think Trump's age is a factor. When it really was never about age, but rather Biden's very obvious cognitive decline. Which the rest of the democrat party has been gaslighting the American people about for 4 years.
