* Handheld: Right above PS4* before DLSS

Docked: Between PS4 Pro* & Xbox Series S* before DLSS with more modern hardware than the former

* RAM: Slower than PS5 & XSX|S in the speed department, but more capacity than XSS. Should have 10.5-11 GB of RAM available to games going by the Switch 1's RAM allotment for its OS.

* Storage: UFS 3.1's max speeds should be a hair under XSX|S (2.1 GB/s vs. 2.4 GB/s), still plenty fast even if not maxed out.

Lines up with what Digital Foundry & NateDrake heard about decompression techniques & fast load times of the BotW tech demo (respectively for each source).

* = Not only is the Switch 2 ARM-based rather than x86 like the systems compared, it's also Nvidia vs. AMD. There are plenty of factors at play to where it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Plus the native Tensor cores of the Switch 2 will allow for DLSS, letting the system punch above its weight & decrease the size of the gap between it & the XSS. Nintendo could throttle down the SoC to the floor, but I'm not sure it'll be a doomsday scenario since this is a custom chip to begin with.

Not interested but curious, no price estimate.

Hopefully the better specs will mean more modern 3rd party games will release for it, and hopefully the games won't require mandatory downloads due to cart space cost.

I’ve changed sticks in joycons and Switch Lites more often than I’ve changed batteries in my Xbox controllers. Nintendo has to fix that next gen right? Right??

I guess it depends how much it weighs. There will probably be a Lite version eventually, or maybe a lighter OLED model.

Anywho I hope the rumour is false. It looks like a literal Switch 2.0 which would be a bit disappointing. But not entirely surprising either after the success of the Switch and after what happened with the Wiiu. Still i would be hoping for a twist of some sort. Something to make it stand out more. it looked like flappy paddle buttons were on the joycons in the render, but then in the pic of the actual one it looks like a hole rather than a button. The wait for flappy paddles becoming standard continues it seems :(.

The rumoured performance point is about what I am expecting. PS4 in portable mode. PS4 pro when docked. But it will have a few more tricks up it sleeve compared to the PS4 and X1 and even the PS5 (though not the pro) and XSX. .....Well one trick really. Hell of a trick though in fairness.

Assuming the Switch 2 is using the T239: it will be interesting to see how usable the Ray tracing is on it and how much developers can squeeze out of it. On the one hand Nvidia do hit harder pound per pound on the RT front. On the other though....it's a really small GPU. Even if it's 2X the RT chops of the steam deck (which is certainly possible)....will developers pay it much heed on the Switch 2?

Anywho I hope the Switch 2 is more interesting than that.

That reminds me though, when this thing is released there will be a flood of crappy 3rd party accessories that comes with any new system launch...

All I really care about is games running at 60fps and backwards compatibility WITH improvements to those games. I'm honestly perfectly happy if it still runs 1080p in docked mode. Smooth framerates over resolutions all day every day.

Don't know if it's real, but I'm a meh on that design. I got too comfortable with the third party ergonomic grip on switch that fit my adult sized hands... The joycons and size hover around that area of serviceable and uncomfortable... My hope was that Nintendo would see the benefit of ergo joy cons, but it's not a huge deal. Third party grip.

I wish "handheld" systems would stop getting bigger.

The portion where the Series S has a MUCH better CPU and a newer, more efficient GPU architecture? That was never part of my discussion. You brought up the Series S when taking a jab at Nintendo “holding back” gaming with weak tech. Seems a bit fishy. How will docking have such a huge impact on performance. And why would that even be needed. Also instead of a minor overclock the jump would be significant enough for developers to have to include a docking mode for games. I don't buy that at all.

And why would it need that much RAM for last gen console performance. Remember the PS4 was competing with a GTX 750 Ti in performance. Even with more RAM it's not really worth it, and it's not really Nintendo's style to over spec areas. Even if it was a GTX 1650 Ti Super OC Turbo hyper fighting whatever... It STILL wouldn't need 12GB of RAM.

These specs are a bunch of people throwing their opinions around on a forum. That handheld vs docked performance, is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect from a forum.

This reminds me of the time the Wii was rumoured to be state of the art and have a PhysX processor in it. Which is laughable considering the lack of advanced use of physics and ai from Nintendo. Developers were laughing at that.
