The First Two Blair Witch Movies Are Getting A Blu-Ray Collection, But It's Only Limited To 1,500 Copies

The Blair Witch Project--the good one from 1999--and its underrated sequel Book of Shadows are being collected into a new and extremely limited special-edition Blu-ray release.

Few horror films can hold a candle to The Blair Witch Project, a perfect convergence of low-budget filmmaking, spooky storytelling, and viral marketing that helped make it one of the most influential horror films of all time. A new, deluxe Blu-ray release of the indie classic is set to be released on November 9, and even better, it'll contain the criminally underrated 2000 sequel Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch. This will be an extremely limited edition Blu-ray release, as only 1,500 copies are being produced. Right now, you can grab one of these for $64.72 (was $72) through Amazon.

While the original Blair Witch Project considered an all-time great horror movie and the bevy of special features included would make this collection worth it, but the inclusion of Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch makes for a far more interesting package. Book of Shadows took a very different direction when compared to the original film and was panned upon release, but it has been reevaluated more kindly in recent years. Instead of being another found-footage follow-up, Book of Shadows is a more traditional movie that exists within the world of The Blair Witch Project, putting a meta commentary spin on the original movie's cult success. It's not a perfect movie, but it is a smart one with a thrilling central mystery, clever nods to its source material, and perception-bending themes that make it fun to rewatch.
