Aside from that difference, both models in the Nova 7 series are identical in features, specs, and connectivity, and you can grab them in either black or white color options.
Prior to the launch of the Nova line, our top pick for PS5 users was the Arctis 7P. The Nova 7P and 7X surpass the original Arctis 7 series in every way thanks to superb ergonomics, excellent audio, and a premium build--all while staying in a reasonable price range.
Best PS5 Gaming Headset - Runner-Up (Tie)
Razer Kaira Pro Hyperspeed
Specs:
- Battery life: 30 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz Wireless (with USB-C adapter); Bluetooth
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio, Razer Hyperspeed haptic audio)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Detachable supercardioid boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, mobile
In terms of gaming headsets that make great use of the PS5's features, you can't beat the Razer Kaira Pro. One of the hallmark new features on the PS5 is the haptic feedback from the DualSense controller. The Razer Kaira Pro adapts haptics for your ears via Razer's HyperSense technology. Though it may sound strange at first, the Kaira Pro offers an inventive and immersive experience that stands out. The 50mm drivers produce rich sounds that put the Kaira Pro near the top of the class in terms of audio quality, and the detachable microphone makes voice chat crisp and clear.
The Kaira Pro is a high-end headset that also looks the part thanks to its white and black design that matches the PS5. It's equipped with Chroma RGB lighting effects that can be tinkered with using a mobile app. Another perk of the Kaira Pro is that it connects wirelessly to PS5 via 2.4GHz USB-C dongle while also boasting Bluetooth. That means you can use the Kaira Pro as headphones for all Bluetooth-enabled devices, making it a versatile pick that is best on PS5 but great all around.
Best PS5 Gaming Headset - Runner-Up (Tie)
Razer BlackShark V2 Pro

- Battery life: 70 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless; Bluetooth
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 Spatial Audio, THX Spatial Audio)

The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro was recently updated in 2024 with new models built specifically for PlayStation and Xbox. The PlayStation version support the PS5's Tempest 3D audio, but also supports Nintendo Switch, mobile, and PC. PC players can also enjoy 3D audio thanks to THX Spatial audio support. also makes for a great PC gaming headset. While the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is more expensive than the Pulse 3D headset, it makes up for that in superior audio quality, extreme comfortability, and an excellent microphone.
Best high-end PS5 headset
SteelSeries Nova Pro
Specs:
- Battery life: Up to 22 hours per swappable battery pack
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless; Bluetooth
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS4 3D Audio, Microsoft Spatial Audio)
- Noise-canceling: Yes
- Mic style: Retractable ClearCast Gen 2 mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, mobile
If you're not concerned about price, the SteelSeries Nova Pro is an incredible gaming headset that also doubles as a high-end pair of traditional headphones. The Nova Pro is one of the few wireless headsets that is compatible with both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That alone makes it an awesome choice if you have both consoles. There are two versions: one that works wirelessly with PlayStation and PC and one that is compatible with Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (only two devices at once).
The Nova Pro comes with a base station that connects to your devices via USB-C. The base station has an OLED display on which you can tinker with sound, EQ, and ChatMix. You can also adjust audio and other settings on the earcups themselves. The base station recognizes when you turn on your PS5 or Xbox, so you're ready to go without doing anything but turning your console on. Additionally, the Nova Pro comes with two rechargeable batteries, one of which charges while in the base station. This means you will never have to deal with a lack of charge--provided you remember to charge the spare battery in the base station.
The Nova Pro has a sleek design with a clever bidirectional, noise-canceling microphone that slides into the left earcup, which comes in handy when using the Nova Pro has a traditional pair of Bluetooth headphones. The synthetic leather earcups are ultra-soft, making it comfortable to wear for hours on end. An adjustable support band keeps the pressure off your head and allows you to find just the right fit for you. The steel headband provides a secure fit while also giving you peace of mind that the headset is built to last.
If you also game on PC, you can take advantage of SteelSeries' Sonar app, which lets you set up custom audio profiles for specific games as well as tell the headset to focus on particular audio cues. You can also use Sonar to block out specific noises such as the sound of someone typing on a keyboard.
The SteelSeries Nova Pro is the best wireless headset for not just PS5 but Xbox and PC, too. So if you're looking for universal support, the Nova Pro is a pricey but wonderful option. It also comes in a wired version that has even better audio quality on PC, though we'd only recommend it for those who game at their desk.
Best Budget Wireless PS5 Gaming Headset
HyperX Cloud Stinger Core
Specs:
- Battery life: 17 Hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless
- Spatial audio: Yes (DTS Headphone:X)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Swivel-to-mute boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC
The HyperX Cloud Stinger Core packs in some impressive tech for a headset under $100. Beyond a lightweight design and durable, steel construction, you’ll get onboard audio controls, a swivel-to-mute microphone, and a sleek design that wouldn’t be out of place on a much more expensive product. The biggest concession HyperX makes with the Cloud Stinger Core is battery life--which clocks in at just 17 hours. Still, that’s more than enough to get you through multiple sessions before needing a recharge, and so long as you’re plugging it in every night, you shouldn’t run into any issues.
Best high-end PS5 headset, runner-up
Turtle Beach Stealth Pro
Specs:
- Battery life: 12+ hours (per swappable battery pack)
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless; Bluetooth 5.1
- Spatial audio: Yes (Windows Sonic, PS5 3D Aduio, Dolby Atmos, DTS Headphone: X)
- Noise-canceling: Active noise canceling
- Mic style: Removable noise-canceling boom, plus integrated mics
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, Windows PCs, Mac, Nintendo Switch, mobile
While the SteelSeries Nova Pro is our pick for the best high-end PS5 headset, Turtle Beach's Stealth Pro puts up strong enough competition to warrant it a spot on this list as our runner-up for the category.
The Stealth Pro's features are largely comparable to the Nova Pro's, including a digital audio converter (DAC) that enhances audio quality from its 50mm Nanoclear drivers. However, unlike the SteelSeries' external DAC module, the Stealth Pro's in integrated into the headset itself, making it a simpler setup. Of course, that makes it a bulkier model, but it's still a sleek-looking headset overall.
Along with the built-in DAC, the Stealth Pro features multiple mics, including the removable noise-canceling boom on the left earcup, and multiple concealed mics for additional voice capture. The headset supports multiple spatial audio formats including PS5 3D audio, Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS Headphone: X. It connects to the PS5 or PC via 2.4Ghz wireless, and also supports Bluetooth 5.1 connections to various other devices. And yes, you can listen to audio from two devices at the same time.
To boost audio performance even more, you can pair the headset with the Turtle Beach Mobile app to adjust the Stealth Pro's EQ settings to your preferences. The headset also includes an active noise-canceling mode, which is great for blocking out external sound to heighten immersion
The Stealth Pro's battery life is one area that could give potential customers a reason to worry. At 12 hours, it's not bad, but plenty of other headsets easily double that. Luckily, that's not the full story. Rather than use built-in batteries, the Stealth Pro features two removable, rechargeable battery packs. Both last 12 hours, so you can get up to 24 hours from both on a single charge. The packs can recharge three hours of battery in 15 minutes, so as long as you keep one charged up and swap when needed, you theoretically could get endless use out of this headset.
Like the Nova Pro, the Stealth Pro has PlayStation- and Xbox-specific models. The PlayStation model works with everything except Xbox consoles, and supports PlayStation's 3D audio. Conversely, the Xbox edition works with everything, including PlayStation, but does not support spatial audio. For that reason, we're giving the PlayStation model our recommendation, but both are identical otherwise. Both models come with a 2.4Ghz USB dongle, charging station, USB-C cable, and a cloth carrying pouch.
Best Premium Wired Headset
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro + GamDAC
Specs:
- Battery life: N/A
- Connectivity: 3.5mm audio jack
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio)
- Noise-canceling: Yes
- Mic style: Retractable ClearCast Gen 2 mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, mobile
Love the reliability of wired connection? Then the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro + GamDAC might become your new favorite headset. The big selling point is the GamDAC system, which enhances your audio and reduces distortion to provide crisp audio that many other headsets struggle to match. The system works in conjunction with Tempest 3D Audio and 360-degree spatial audio to create an immersive experience that lives up to its premium price tag. It also includes a retractable microphone and on-unit volume controls for easy access during the heat of battle.
Best Budget Wired Headset
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1
Specs:
- Battery life: N/A
- Connectivity: 3.5mm audio jack
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio, Microsoft Spatial Sound)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Retractable bidirectional noise-canceling mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Mac, mobile
Wired headsets are almost always more affordable than their wireless cousins. And if you still want top-tier performance but are working with a budget, then the $60 SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1 might be a good fit. It offers many of the same features found on more premium SteelSeries products (such as 360-degree spatial audio and the ComfortMax System), but does so without inflating its price tag. Best of all, its 3.5mm jack means it can serve as a reliable pair of headphones for all of your consoles and devices. Other standout features include on-unit audio controls, a microphone that can eliminate background noise by up to 25dB, and a lightweight design.
Best EQ Features
Astro A50
Specs:
- Battery life: 15 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless (plus USB, optical I/O, 3.5mm AUX pass through)
- Spatial audio: PC only (Dolby Atmos)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Moveable boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC, Mac
Astro's A50 wireless headset is one of the best high-end options confirmed to work with the PS5. It's an exceptionally comfortable headset and comes with a charging dock that you can easily drop the headset into between sessions. It connects to the PS5 via USB, but if you want to use the included MixAmp then you'll need the Astro HDMI adapter. Connecting the dock to a PC also lets you customize and save EQ profiles for use with PlayStation consoles. It also has a battery life of up to 10 hours, which makes it great for those day-long sessions.
Best Wired PS5 Gaming Headset
Astro A40 TR
- Battery life: N/A
- Connectivity: 3.5mm audio
- Spatial audio: No
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Moveable boom mic
Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac
If you want a cheaper, wired option, then the Astro A40 is a great choice. It boasts a similar audio quality to the A50 while featuring a detachable microphone, lighter frame, and a wired connection--no charge required. It connects via the DualSense's 3.5mm port and supports both game audio and voice chat. If you want to use the MixAmp Pro TR that comes with some models, you'll need the Astro HDMI adapter, which released in October for $40. Both are suitable options for the PS5; it's really just a matter of whether you prefer a wired or wireless headset.
Best mid-range for PlayStation gamers
Pulse Elite
Specs:
- Battery life: 30 hours
- Connectivity: PlayStation Link 2.4Ghz; Bluetooth
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Retractable noise-canceling boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PC, Mac, PS Portal, mobile.
Sony's official Pulse Elite is a wireless headset built for PS5 that sports many of the same features as Sony's other Pulse audio devices, but at a more affordable price point that makes it an excellent choice for anyone looking for something to use primarily on PS5.
All the main features you would want from a Sony-made PS5 headset are here, including support for PS5 3D audio and low latency PlayStation Link 2.4Ghz wireless connection on PS5, Windows, Mac, and PlayStation Portal. The Pulse Elite also supports Bluetooth connections to mobile devices and non-Sony consoles, and allows for simultaneous dual-device playback, meaning you could be listening to your PS5 game audio via PlayStation Link while listening to a podcast playing over Bluetooth at the same time.
The Pulse Elite certainly looks like a PS5-specific device, too, with a unique design that shares the console's "alien spaceship-like" aesthetics. It's sleek, slim, and doesn't look like any other headset on this list, but its simplistic form factor belies the Pulse Elite's features and specs, including the retractable noise canceling mic hidden in the left ear cup arm. The headset also uses "studio-inspired" 50mm drivers, and sports a 30-hour battery life with fast-charging capable of recharging two hours of battery in just 10 minutes. Along with the headset, the Pulse Elite comes with a charging dock with a mounting hanger and an additional USB-C charging cable.
Best gaming earbuds for PlayStation gamers
Pulse Explore
Specs:
- Battery life: 5 hours (plus 10 hours with charging case)
- Connectivity: PlayStation Link 2.4Ghz; Bluetooth
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: integrated multi-mics with AI-powered noise rejection
- Supported Devices: PS5, PC, Mac, PS Portal, mobile
The Pulse Explore headphones are yet another member of Sony's PS5-specific audio devices. Rather than a headset, they're a pair of tiny true wireless earbuds, making them ideal for anyone looking for the simplicity and comfort of an in-ear option that still carries the functionality of a headset.
The Pulse Explore uses planar magnetic drivers, which Sony says allow for "near-perfect" audio performance. It also has multiple integrated microphones with AI-powered noise rejection for voice chat. Like other Pulse devices, the Pulse Explore earbuds support PS5 3D spatial audio, and uses PlayStation Link 2.4Ghz for wireless connections on PS5, PC, Mac, and PS Portal. The can also connect to mobile and non-Sony consoles via Bluetooth, and the earbuds let you listen to simultaneous audio playback from two devices--one over PS Link and the other over Bluetooth.
While those features are similar to Sony's other Pulse headsets, the one place where the Pulse Explore lag is in their battery life, which lasts five hours on a full charge. You can get an additional 10 hours of battery by using the included charging case, but you won't be able to use the earbuds while they charge. While that's a shorter battery life than most headsets, their high-quality audio performance and suite of PS5-specific features still give them the edge over their competitors.
Best noise-canceling gaming earbuds
Sony Inzone Buds
Specs:
- Battery life: 12 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4 Ghz wireless; Bluetooth LE
- Spatial audio: Yes
- Noise-canceling: Yes
- Mic style: Multiple integrated mics
- Supported Devices: PS5, PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Android
Using headphones while gaming on console is a great way to increase the sense of immersion. While most headsets and headphones feature at least some passive noise blocking, using a pair with active noise cancelation can enhance the experience even more. For players who prefer earbuds, the Sony Inzone Buds are our recommendation for the best noise-canceling gaming earbuds on PS5.
The Sony Inzone Buds are yet another Sony-made audio device on this list, but like other Inzone products, they're designed primarily for PC players. Nevertheless, they integrate well with the PS5 and support many of its best features—including 3D spatial audio—making them great for console players, too.
The Sony Inzone Buds feature 12 hours of battery life, which is better than most other in-gear gaming headphones. They also support 2.4Ghz wireless connections on PS5, PC, and Mac via the included USB-C dongle. They also work with Bluetooth LE connections, but note that Bluetooth LE is different from standard Bluetooth, so only certain devices support it. Unfortunately, iPhones are one of the handful that do not support LE connections.
As for the feature that snagged these earphones our recommendation for this category, the Sony Inzone Buds feature active noise canceling plus passive noise isolation from the in-ear seal. This filters out external sound, keeping you focused on the in-game audio. Sony designed the Inzone Buds to have minimal contact points with your ear to increase comfort while wearing them, and you can use the free 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer app to create a listening profile based on your ear shape and preferences.
Great For Competitive Gamers
Victrix Gambit Black
Specs:
- Battery life: 16 hours
- Connectivity: Bluetooth; 3.5mm wired
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio)
- Noise-canceling: Yes
- Mic style: Flip-to-mute boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC
For anyone looking to inject some serious sound into their ears, the Victrix Gambit features fine-tuned hardware that's designed to take advantage of the PlayStation 5's 3D Audio features, an ultra-lightweight design, and profiles designed to make popular games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty sound more immersive. The headset is also designed for use with Victrix's excellent module PlayStation pro controller, the Victrix Pro BFG.
Best For PC Gamers Who Also Play PS5
Sony Inzone headsets (H9, H5, H3)
Specs:
- Battery life: 32 hours (H9); 28 hours (H5)
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth (H9); 2.4Ghz wireless and 3.5mm wired (H5); 3.5mm wired (H3)
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio, all models)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Flip-to-mute boom mic (all models)
- Supported Devices: PC, PS5
Sony's recently released Inzone headphones have the same great PS5 audio features as the Pulse, but they come in three different models and are ideal for those who game on PC and PS5. While pricey at $300, the Inzone H9 has the same soft-fit leatherette used in Sony's WH-1000X headphones lineup, which make them incredibly comfortable. The H9 is certainly the best of the bunch if you're looking for a wireless headset, with a 32 hour battery life. There's also the H5, which has a slightly smaller 28-hour max battery life and less premium materials. Both the H9 and H5 offer 2.4GHz wireless connections, but the H9 also supports Bluetooth, while the H5 allows for wired connections via 3.5mm audio jack.
Meanwhile, the wired H3 comes in at the same price as the Pulse. If you're primarily a PS5 gamer, we'd recommend the Pulse over the Inzone line. However, if you play a lot on PC, any of the Inzone headsets are great picks. They utilize Sony's 360 Spatial Sound to produce audio designed specifically for your ear shape. It works quite well, but this feature is only available for PC. You also gain robust control over your audio experience on PC with the Inzone hub app.
So, who would we recommend these headsets to? PC gamers who also play PS5 would be happy with Inzone. We'd recommend checking out Sony's 650 Spatial Sound before buying the pricey Inzone H9. That said, if you dig it, then the H9 might be a good pick for you over the SteelSeries Nova Pro. PS5 owners who game a lot on PC and don't mind a wired connection can't go wrong with the Inzone H3.
Solid Audio At A Great Price
Sony Pulse 3D
Specs:
- Battery life: 12 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless; 3.5mm wired
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D audio)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Two hidden mics
- Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PS Portal, PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch
The Pulse 3D headset is Sony's official gaming headset for the PS5, and while its plastic frame makes it look and feel somewhat flimsy, it's actually a great budget option. Its audio quality is quite good, pushed even further with Sony's 3D audio technology. Its sleek design also means you won't have a big mic boom in front of your face when chatting with friends. However, those with larger ears may not find the Pulse to be the most comfortable headset. If you want to learn more, check out our Pulse 3D headset review.
Best Battery
HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless
Specs:
- Battery life: 300 hours
- Connectivity: 2.4Ghz wireless
- Spatial audio: PC only (DTS Headphone:X)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Detachable, bendable noise-canceling boom mic
- Supported Devices: PS5, PC
If you hate when your headset runs out of juice, you’ll want to take a very close look at the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless. Where most gaming headsets offer around 30 hours of battery life, the Cloud Alpha somehow manages to pack in 300 hours of runtime before needing a recharge. That alone makes it worth the price of admission, but toss in DTS Spatial Audio, 50mm dual chamber drivers, and a detachable microphone, and you’ve got one of the best PS5 headsets available. It’s also built to the usual HyperX standards, so you’ll find soft-touch materials, a lightweight design, and a durable aluminum frame that should help it withstand years of use.
Best Not-Headset PS5 Headset
HORI 3D Gaming Surround Gaming Neckset
Specs:
- Battery life: N/A
- Connectivity: 3.5mm wired
- Spatial audio: Yes (PS5 3D Audio)
- Noise-canceling: No
- Mic style: Integrated noise-canceling mic
Supported Devices: PS5, PS4, PC
It’s a bit quirky, but if you find gaming headsets uncomfortable, the HORI 3D Gaming Surround Gaming Neckset is a great alternative. The unique device sits around your neck and essentially functions as a personal surround system. It connects directly to your DualSense controller, offering both speakers and a microphone so you can communicate with your teammates. You’ll even get to select different audio modes that alter its performance based on the type of game you’re playing. It won’t be for everyone, but it’s arguably the best headset-adjacent alternative currently on the market for PS5 gamers.
