God Of War Ragnarok Review-Bombed On Steam Because Of PSN Requirement

Some PC players have a (Leviathan) axe to grind with Sony.

This might sound familiar: Steam users are frustrated with a PlayStation first-party game on the PC storefront because it requires a PSN account. Well, this time PC players are review-bombing God of War Ragnarok because of the log-in demand.

God of War Ragnarok has a Mixed status on the action-adventure game's Steam page because of the review bombs over the PSN requirement, per PC Gamer. For example, one recent negative review sarcastically states: "I love having to sign in to PSN to play a single-player game. I'm glad you didn't learn a single thing from what happened with Helldivers 2."

Earlier this year, Sony ended up canceling the mandatory PSN sign-in for Helldivers 2 following fan backlash on Steam. However, that situation was a bit different in that the PSN log-in requirement was introduced after the game was already out. God of War Ragnarok just launched last week on PC, and Sony had previously stated a PSN account was needed when the Sony Santa Monica game was announced for Steam. (Side note: Here are the PC specs for God of War Ragnarok.)

Sony is bringing more games to PC, and the PlayStation titles will require a PSN account. Along with God of War Ragnarok, the remake of Until Dawn will also have a mandatory PSN log-in to work on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

If playing God of War Ragnarok on PC, the game's companions should be less annoying. Additionally, the PC edition of the title features unlocked frame rates and ultra-widescreen monitor support.

Looking ahead, Sony Santa Monica is reportedly working on a new IP, outside of God of War. However, nothing official from Sony has been revealed about what this project could be. For more, check out GameSpot's God of War Ragnarok review.
