PlayStation State Of Play Confirmed For Tuesday
The briefing could include third-party game news and remasters.
Confirming previous reports, Sony has officially confirmed a PlayStation State of Play livestream event will take place this week. It's scheduled to begin on September 24 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET and will run for 30-plus minutes.
In terms of what to expect, Sony didn't share many specifics in its PlayStation Blog post, instead only teasing that there will be "news and updates on more than 20 upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from studios around the world."
Reporter Jeff Grubb of GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb previously addressed rumors of such an event, saying the event is happening "this week for sure." Pressed for more details on what the event might include in terms of news, Grubb said he doesn't want to get anyone's hopes up, but he did say he expects the event to focus on third-party projects and remasters.
Rumors and reports circulating recently have suggested that Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn could receive PS5 remasters, and these could be two announcements at the rumored State of Play.
The PlayStation State of Play comes not long after Sony confirmed the PS5 Pro and the 30th Anniversary PS5 console.
A State of Play might not be the only big gaming announcement event on tap for the semi-near future, as some believe Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal event may be lined up for as soon as this month. There is no genuine evidence of that, however, beyond wishful thinking and Nintendo's own history of hosting events in September.
