I wanted to make a thread on this because this is legit one of the best starting rosters in a fighting game I've ever seen.

If your a Dragonball fan, it don't get much better than this.

Tenkaichi Fans are hype, we never thought we'd get a roster better to 3. This one truly going to take the cake.

@Archangel3371: love fighter Z, definently a more balanced experience for competitive. Tenkaichi though is the ultimate fan fare fighting game for dragonball fans. The characters scale power wise like they do in the anime. It's a more canon experience.

I think this will be a sleeper GOTY title just like FighterZ was. They didn't hold anything back, and it's actually a true successor to Budokai Tenkaichi.

I like actual fighting games.

@jg4xchamp: its 100% a fighting game, you just like fighting games that are balanced equally between all characters for competive play, and that's totally cool.

This is for dragonball fans not to be the next tekken or street fighter or an EVO fighting game and I love it for it.

They have everything but gt!

I just hope the campaigns have voice acting and proper cut scenes.

They are like 50 characters, but with a lot of "variations", Definitely FighterZ was double edged sword, after it all Dragon Ball games just feel meh.

Technically, 182 character transformations. Since many of them are the same characters with different transformations. But it's still a huge roster either way.

That is going to be a lot of versions of Goku :P

Still, impressive roster, and I will be interested in trying the game out to see what the Budokai hype was all about.

Now I want to beat up a version of Goku in Super as Hercule.

Good luck, the power levels scale how they do in the anime. Hercule is grounded, can't even fly lol

I cannot speak for Budokai, but DBFZ is one of the most technical action games I have played.

As for Pokemon and Yugioh. Those games are no slouches in the depth department either.

Dragon Ball FighterZ combines a high level of accessability with a LOT of depth. Most games wish they had such a good balance of depth and complexity.

I'm going to have to pick this up. They nailed the look of the game. I don't understand why they need 20 Goku's though. I just wish you could go into different forms during gameplay.

Art style looks spot on for what I'd want in a 3D dragonaball game. It looks slick. I'm alright with multiple gokus, goku has gone through so many move sets from being a kid in db to db super. He kinda has to have variants for this type of game.

I have never played a Dragon Ball game, and I have no intention of starting now.

Not going to lie, figuring out how make the non viable characters viable is alot of fun. Used to run yajirobe in tenkaichi 3 to troll.

It's so much worse than something like Dan in SF for comparison lol

If you do win with hercule, you deserve all bragging rights. Atleast in tenkaichi 3 they gave him a jet pack and I think instead of a ki blast he would throw rocks lol

They are following the Tenkaichi template. All they need to do is make it pretty, and not **** it up.

Yea I'm just wondering can a single Goku go from Super Sayian to SSBlue or do you need to pick a different character for that?

As for the look I remember growing up wishing the games actually looked like the cartoon and now we're in a time when the games actually look better!

You can tell they took notes from fighterZ on the artstyle and that's a great thing!

Most likely will have a different character for blue, SS, UI, Base Goku, SS3, and will have different special move sets.

I get wanting to be able to transform in battle, but tbh I doubt there would be enough time in the match for a character like goku! Lol.

I was a big Burst Limit fan and that was how they did it in that game and it worked well! But only because it was Saiyan saga-Cell saga. Sparking Zero is stretching the entire series so I get why they wouldn't want to do it that on this one. Tekaichi 3 was similar. I'm sure a good amount of the characters will still have transformations, but wouldn't expect base goku- SSB goku on one character.

Apples and oranges comparing the 2 and I love fighter Z and bought it at launch, played in the beta for it. I'm a fan. But I don't even want to compare them. FighterZ was an attempt at a competitive 2d fighter for dragonball. It plays like a traditional 2D fighter, it's basically a more accesible MvC with a beautiful DB anime skin.

FighterZ is a great fighting game, but it's not necessarily a DragonBall inspired fighter. It's more inspired by MvC (and similar 2d fighters) than anything. The goal was to get into EVO with a dragonaball fighting game. And it worked! Snatched it from MvC Infinite which was a failure. The game is reasonably balanced for comps and fun.

You are correct about the fan service being the focus of sparking zero. Developer even says they are trying to make it the most immersive dragonball fighting game and you can see it. They want the game to play and feel like how the show feels, and it looks like they are nailing it. They are giving us pretty much every character to play with. This game will feel more like dragonball than fighter Z even did. But fighter Z will be the better competitive fighter because it's made for specifically that. It's why krillin and yamcha can hang with Broly. Which is good for competitive. But if going off the power levels of the actual show absolutely wrong and would never be close. That's where sparking zero will shine.

I will consume my Dragonball mid tier game nomnomnom

Champ will also secretly buy it as to not lose cred.

Facts, and he will dive into the meta of it and probably have more fun with it than fighterZ but will never admit it publicly

Anyway nothing wrong with the fantasy genre, there's different types. I understand, for a long time the tolkien-type stuff turned me off until I played Souls. Maybe you like sci-fi? Plenty of aliens in DB.

If was a Dragonball character i'd have a very high KI level. And a cool special move. I'd also be fucking Maron and creating little versions of me who are gifted (like me).

Sparking Zero is arena shooter, with the same bad gameplay they've always had. Miss me with that shit.
