At today's Geeked Week presentation, Netflix announced that The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, an anime set in the The Witcher universe, will be released on February 11, 2025. The announcement was made by Doug Cockle, who will voice Geralt of Rivia in the film.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, set between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher Season 1, adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story "A Little Sacrifice." In the story, Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is called to a seaside village to investigate a series of attacks. He becomes embroiled in a long-standing conflict between humans and merpeople, requiring him to rely on both old and new allies to prevent a full-scale war. Or as Cockle puts it in what Netflix just released, "That's right, he's gonna cross swords with merpeople, of all things." You can watch the announcement video below, which includes a clip from the anime.

The animated feature has a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes and is slightly longer than the previous The Witcher animated film, Nightmare of the Wolf. Cockle will replace Henry Cavill, who has previously portrayed Geralt in the live-action series. Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey will reprise their roles as Yennefer and Jaskier, respectively, and Christina Wren will voice Essi Daven.

The film is written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, and produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Mike Ostrowski, Tomek Bagiński, and Jarosław Sawko, along with Jason F. Brown and Sean Daniel, serve as executive producers. Rae Benjamin is the co-executive producer, and Sapkowski serves as creative consultant. Kang Hei Chul directs.

In addition to the animated film, The Witcher Season 4 is in production, scheduled for release in 2025. Earlier this year, the Netflix series was renewed for a fifth and final season. Sapkowski's new The Witcher book is also expected to release in Winter 2024/2025.
