Netflix's Emmy Award-winning Squid Game is returning for Season 2 in December. With Netflix's Geeked Week event in full swing, the streaming service revealed a teaser poster and announced the first trailer will also arrive today.

According to Netflix, the first season of Squid Game was the most watched program from the streamer in 2021, with 142 million member households tuning in for a combined 1.65 billion watch hours--topping even Bridgerton.

Season 1 became one of Netflix's biggest hits ever and received 14 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series, making it the first non-English-language work nominated in this category. Lee Jung-jae won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, the first time an Asian actor won this award for a non-English part. The show also spawned a slew of merchandise and even an actual Squid Game competition series that didn't exactly work out.

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk announced recently that the series will conclude with a Season 3, arriving in 2025. He also confirmed that Lee would return as Seong and gave a hint about the plot.

"Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of season one, returns and joins the game again," said Hwang. "Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale in season three, which will be brought to you next year."

Squid Game Season 2 arrives on Netflix on December 26.
