To celebrate Hobbit Day, Warner Bros. Pictures released a new poster for the next The Lord of the Rings film, which is the animated feature The War of the Rohirrim.

The poster shows the character Hera front and center. Voiced by Gaia Wise, Hera is the daughter of Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox), the ninth king of Rohan. The film is set 200 years before the events of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings series. Jackson is an executive producer on The War of the Rohirrim, which is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell).

The poster also confirms that the film is labeled as "Peter Jackson Presents," which seems to be an effort to inform fans that the mastermind of the live-action series is involved with this project, too.

The War of the Rohirrim releases in theaters on December 13. It also brings back Miranda Otto as the voice of Eowyn, who is the narrator for the film. For more, check out a trailer.

If The War of the Rohirrim doesn't sound like your thing, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with multiple other Lord of the Rings films, beginning with the tentatively titled The Hunt for Gollum. Andy Serkis is coming back to play the character and direct the movie, which is set for release in 2026.

September 22 was Hobbit Day, which celebrates the joint birthdays of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. In addition to the reveal of this new War of the Rohirrim poster, a release date was announced for the next The Lord of the Rings game, Tales of the Shire.
