Honkai: Star Rail Is Getting A PS5 Physical Edition With Collectible Art Cards And Cute Keychains
Sure, Honkai: Star Rail might be free-to-play, but this physical release includes some cool collectibles to justify its $40 price tag.
Honkai: Star Rail is a free-to-play game, but if you're a big fan who wants to show off their love for the popular RPG, a physical edition for PS5 is now available to preorder at Best Buy. Priced at $40, Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazer Edition includes the base game on a disc and the following bonus content: nine gilded holographic cards, two holographic character keychains, an exclusive postcard, and a game redemption code with exclusive in-game items. Best Buy lists the release date as March 31, 2025, but this date is sometimes used as a placeholder for Q1 (first three months of the year).
It's not unheard of for a free-to-play game to receive a physical edition. Fortnite has received multiple boxed releases over the years, each of which contains exclusive in-game cosmetics. The difference here is that you're actually getting a disc. This is a bit unusual, especially since Honkai: Star Rail requires an internet connection and you'll need to download the game regardless. From a practical gaming perspective, the disc is useless, but it could make for a cool drink coaster.
Developed by Hoyoverse, the same studio behind Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail is a free-to-play game with Gacha elements in its design. Released in April 2023, the game is set in a sci-fantasy universe and tasks you with uncovering mysteries within the galaxy and fighting back against the seeds of destruction known as Stellaron, which were planted by a cosmic entity looking to wipe out all life in the universe.
Like its siblings, Honkai: Star Rail has continued to receive updates since it launched, building on its world with more lore, introducing new characters to collect, and hosting several events. It also has a similar aesthetic--mixing anime influences with highly detailed fashion--and the gameplay has a fine balance of cathartic action and tactical cunning.
Version 2.5 of Honkai: Star Rail went live this week, and the new update introduced the Wardance ceremony, powerful new adversaries, and the return of limited five-star characters Robin, Black Swan, and Kafka.
Honkai: Star Rail Nendoroids and Plushies
- Nendoroid Dan Heng -- $59 | Releases September 18
- Nendoroid Dan Heng (Tourist clothing) -- $74 | Releases August 27, 2025
- Nendoroid March 7th -- $56 | Releases April 2, 2025
- Pom-Pom plushie doll -- $30
For something possibly more valuable, there are some Honkai: Star Rail collectibles you can look at. The Dan Heng Nendoroid figure--which releases next week on September 18--combines the cutesy aesthetic of the toy manufacturer with the cool factor of the Star Rail archivist hero. For something more casual, there's also a Nendoroid version of Dan that puts him in his best tourism clothes, and you can pair him up with this cute figure of March 7th, an adorable but amnesiac member of the Astral Express rail crew. For something more huggable, you can't go wrong with this plushie doll of Pom-Pom, everyone's favorite space-train conductor.
Like other Nendoroid figures, you're getting a pretty decent amount of articulation, interchangeable face-plates to swap out their expressions, and various accessories, all in an incredibly sweet package.
Lastly, Untitled Goose Game is is just $18.70 for its physical PS4 version. Is it related to Honkai: Star Rail? Not remotely, but since both games revolve around honking, we're including it anyway.
